Location: Central NJ,
This hawk was found in southern NJ, way off course during migration. She had a severe chest injury and was possibly hit by a car. She was immature when found in 2021.
I am looking to place her in an educational environment as she is most likely not releasable. Swainson's hawks migrate to Argentina. Since she was immature on her migration route she was not able to depend on other birds to guide her and I'm not sure she could find her way if released.
She has been flown as a falconry bird and is in good health. She is extremely dark in color. In fact, I don't think I have seen one this dark. I'd prefer someone with Swainson's hawk experience, but I realize that may be hard to find here on the East Coast. Pickup in NJ only. Photos on request.
